Hybrid Fitting
Most hybrid conversations start and end with "swap your 4-iron." Whether that's actually the right move depends on where your long irons are making contact in the first place.
Tape the Iron Before Recommending the Swap
We tape and board whatever long iron or hybrid you're currently carrying first. A thin, low-on-the- face tape pattern usually points toward a hybrid with a lower, wider sole; a clean, centered mark can mean the iron was never the problem and a length or lie tweak solves it instead.
From there we run two or three hybrid options across the launch monitor at the same swing, comparing carry, launch, and how consistently the tape mark holds center under real speed.
Iron-Style vs. Wood-Style Hybrid Heads
Sole Width
A wider sole resists digging on a steep angle of attack but can add unwanted spin off a tight lie — we watch the board reading, not just the swing type.
Offset
More offset gives the hands time to square the face at impact, which shows up directly as a cleaner tape mark for players who tend to leave the face open.
Length & Lie
Set to bridge cleanly from your last full iron, checked against the same board reading used on the rest of the set.
Close the Gap the Right Way
Bring the long iron or hybrid you're questioning and we'll show you what the tape says before you spend anything.
